I've known this gorgeous mama for quite some time, from the last time we were at Columbus AFB actually :) Now that we are back, they won't be here for too much longer, but I'm glad our assignments overlapped a little again.

Isn't she the most beautiful pregnant mama!? I mean really! All belly! And her little girl is just a doll! She kept me laughing because she kept spotting planes while we were taking these shots, we were right under the pattern and she was loving it.

Meet the very first set of twins I have had the privilege to shoot; Alexa and Austin and their beautiful parents. I made a special trip back to Shreveport for this session and I couldn't be happier. I got to snuggle these two precious little ones and add a few images to my portfolio while having fun!

Mr. Austin wasn't a huge fan of pictures unless he was snuggled with his sister :)

Such a beautiful beautiful family!!!

They were absolute dolls for this shot- in twin bunk beds!! One of my best friends and fellow photographers came along for this shoot and she found this bed for me a few months ago at a yard sale! I love it! And I've been saving it for this shoot for ages and couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

Miss Alexa was a dream newborn model, so we worked with her awhile while Mom and Dad tried to soothe brother.

LOVE her gorgeous little rosebud lips.

This next picture includes the foot prints of Austin and Alexa's precious Angel big sister, Aubrey. I love how mom and dad included her in the pictures. I know that as the twins grow up they will know how special their big sister Aubrey is.

Thank you so much M family for sharing your little miracles with us. You guys are such amazing parents! I'll miss you guys and hope we can keep up, I am going to love watching these little ones grow up!

When I photographed one of my best friend's family in late October, we had no idea the storm that was brewing in her life. Less than a month after these pictures were taken, my sweet dear friend was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 28. Her daughter is the same age as my Ellie. They have been friends before birth. Happily, she is on the road to healing. She had a double mastectomy last week and today got the best news, her biopsy on the lymph nodes was clear! You can follow her amazing journey at her blog "Fight Like a Girl!"

She has the most amazing faith and is truly an inspiration to me in so many ways, not just in this fight with cancer. She is one of the most beautiful people, inside and out. I hate that we had to move right in the midst of her surgery/recovery, and I'd like nothing more than to hang out with her in a few weeks when she starts chemo...laughing about the craziness of our two year old daughters, drinking lattes and eating nutella. But, I know that with God and her positive attitude she will beat cancer and I hope I'll be photographing her beautiful family for many years to come.

I was so honored to be at the birth of baby Elijah. There's just something about being there for the arrival of a new precious little one. ::Tears:: I seriously have the best job ever!

We froze for this mini-session honoring M turning four but he was a great sport about and there was no whining at.all! Here's Mr. Eli, the newest arrival of one of my oldest friends, from way back in elementary school! {I hope to have his birth session up soon too, but we are still living amongst a sea of boxes from our move to Mississippi, so it may be a few more days.} He wasn't much for sleeping, or being undressed but we made do :) His room is baseball themed since his daddy has played baseball his whole life, so I especially love the one of Eli snuggled up in his daddy's glove!

Oh how I adore this family. They are some of the sweetest, most genuine people I know.
They wanted some updated family pictures for the fall, even though it was about 95 when we took these! This session was tons of fun. (Slight sarcasm...you had to be there!) It was actually kind of scary, there was a HUGE storm brewing and we did this session literally at a run. I am terrified of lightning (and I'm not foolish either, I know it's dangerous to be out in an open field with lightning so close by!), so we did this session in under fifteen minutes :) And they were a blast and so sweet and fun despite me being a little crazy!!

I'm a little behind in my blogging sessions lately, I've had a busy past few weeks!

I know I've shared this picture before but I just wanted to post again to enter it into a contest from a photography forum I love Rock the Shot. This month's contest was for silhouettes.

So my submission is of the big kiddos enjoying the sunset on the beach in Galveston, Texas. I wish the sun had set over the water but I can't change geography so I had to deal with what I was given ;) I still love what I came away with :)

I am so in love with Mr. Bennett. Even though he refused to sleep for me unless his mama was within arms reach....(mama's boy already and I mean that as a huge compliment, I love snuggly boys that love their mama's). This session didn't go as we maybe originally planned but I really love the moments we captured anyways.

Bennett's mama is such a sweet dear friend and she's pretty handy with her camera too (though she doesn't always like to admit it) so I know I'll see plenty of her pictures of him after we move, and of his two fabulous big brothers. I'll be headed back over for a few family shots this weekend and I'll share more of those later. I'm going to miss them all so much but I'm so thankful for the years I've had watching her family grow!

Little Andrew was so serious! (I've had quite a few little ones lately that haven't been quite sure what to think about pictures!) I can't get over how big Andrew is, he was my first birth client.
And is definitely bigger than he was when we last met.

I'm quite sad that his sweet family has moved since I did this session. Gotta love the Air Force! I know his mama will keep me updated on Andrew though, I will always feel a special connection to him since I met him when he was born (well, almost!). Here's your sneak peek! Oh my! Little Dominic was the sweetest, happiest little man today. His mama was my kind of mama too, she kept his sweet baby hair un-cut until he could get pictures- she wanted to remember it the way it looks now, so soft and a little crazy! And she let me know she shares my love for little baby feet. {I adore baby feet!!} So Mama, here ya go- a sneak at your sweet little{st} boy- his adorable hair and scrunchy toes, and of course, adorable little smile!!

I can't believe Owen is already five months old. It's hard to imagine he was this small and snuggly....

These days he's on the move- usually rolling wherever he wants, though he can get up on his elbows and knees and "crawl" backwards. He's still the world's happiest baby and adores his big brother and sister.

Life is definitely crazier with three little ones, but we are surviving ! :) It's hard with Daddy gone right now, we definitely miss him. He's absence also influences how many sessions I'm able to take on, so I just wanted to share that I have limited availability for the fall . Also since we are moving in December, I want to make sure if you're thinking about fall sessions (for Christmas cards or the like) be sure to book soon!

I'm getting excited about an upcoming birth session- any day now! Be sure to check back in a few days for a sneak peek! It's amazing how fast they grow up...especially the third time around!

This is the maternity session I've been waiting on for about...9 months. Oh my. It was a very hot sticky 95 degrees at sunset for this adorable family's session. But I have the best clients, they are always up for anything and never seem to mind the Louisiana heat that much!

Meet little Sophie, the adorable baby sister of this darling little girl, who you can also see here (a little more recently!). We did this session in two different days, almost 2 weeks apart. In some pictures she is only 3 days old and she didn't really want to sleep much that day!

I love watching families grow and I'm so glad I've had the chance to see sweet Aubrey blossom into a loving big sister and meet little Sophie. I dread moving so much, because I will not only miss the friendship I have with their mom, but I hate the idea of not getting to capture these sweet girls growing up!!

A quick glance at what's been keeping me so busy during maternity leave.

I also just wanted to clarify that I'm going to be on leave until the 18th of April. A few things have come up and I need the extra week or so to catch my breath essentially ;) Can't wait to get back to work capturing sweet moments for my clients, however, I'm only going to be doing limited shoots in the coming months as I am working really hard to balance family life and business life.

Life with three sweet precious babies is the most important thing to me and I want to be sure to spend as much time with them as I can while they are little, with that and a few other things coming up this year...please be sure to book early if you are considering family photos or newborn photos this year. I will only have limited availability :)

Sweet Sweet Olivia. She has taught me a thing or two about newborn pictures :) The first day we tried this...she only slept swaddled, so I came back two days later... and we worked our magic on her... and she slept for almost 3 hours straight. Dream newborn for a photographer! It was crazy the difference in her! :) We actually still aren't done for this session- I am going back for more lifestyle family shots this weekend (assuming I haven't had my own baby of course!)

Happy Birthday Olivia! I was so honored to have been present for your birth! You are such a miracle and so loved already! I'm (not so) patiently waiting till I get to see you again for newborn portraits!

I've been photographing this family for almost a year after I met her mom at a play date, I've done big brother's cake smash, family/maternity pictures, and I've loved watching their family grow to include sweet Olivia!

Birth photography has been such a blessing in my own life, I truly love nothing more about my job than births and hope to have the opportunities to photograph many more soon. (Though I guess my own little peanut's birth- which my husband will probably do most of..is next up! 4 weeks to go!)

I met this adorable family today and their sweet peanut- Juliana.

She arrived 6 weeks early and while Daddy wasn't able to be there for the big day since he's currently serving our country bravely overseas- he did get to come home for a bit to meet his little girl. She's such a perfect little one and I'm so glad I got to capture a few moments for them before Daddy heads back to protecting us.

Military families are always so special to me, I like to think I have a bit of an inside pass- since I was both an Air Force brat and am proudly married to a pilot in the Air Force... and the families they leave behind are so strong and brave themselves. I know Juliana's mom has a tough job ahead of her- but she's been such a wonderful "single" mom already in these few weeks- she can totally handle this job!

Remember little Andrew? My first birth client is now two! weeks old! And the weather finally cooperated for us to do his newborn pictures! But Mr. Andrew had other ideas, and wanted to make sure I really worked hard today.

We spent a good three hours soothing, feeding, burping, rocking, swaying, turning up the heat, changing him (and all the blankets because he also thought I needed to do laundry tonight on all of my prop blankets ;) )... until we finally gave up and did family stuff first with his precious parents and sweet grandparents...

and then when that was done, he passed out. So for fifteen minutes, I raced the clock to get everything done before he could wake up!!

Mr. Reece was born 5 weeks early on Christmas Day! What a present! He's still a little peanut but you would NEVER have guessed he was almost 3 weeks old by the way he slept. I only got to see his beautiful eyes for just a few moments today- he was so content to sleep the morning away :)

Yesterday I had one of the best days ever. I documented the arrival of baby Andrew (the adorable son from this maternity session). Even though mom unexpectedly had a c-section, I loved being there to capture the before and after shots for this precious couple. They prayed and hoped for a baby for so long, and then he had to make Mom work even harder to celebrate his arrival...but oh I think it was worth it. They will be amazing parents, they have such love for this little boy already...Here's a small sneak peek of Andrew's birthday yesterday, I will have a slide show up in a few days showcasing everything. Wow! That pretty much describes this cake smash/one year portrait session. We rescheduled because the weather wasn't very nice yesterday, it was warm but cloudy (not good, since I'm almost 100% all natural light when it comes to indoor shoots!) and add in the return of my morning sickness at almost 27 weeks, we decided to push it to today...Today was beautiful. COLD but beautiful so we scrapped our outdoor picture idea and did everything inside...and I love everything about this session. It's a little bigger sneak peek than normal, but like I said... I had a hard time picking favorites!!

My VERY talented friend Lindsey makes the best cakes and made a banana smash cake for our little monkey today....

This is the adorable son of this beautiful maternity session...He arrived on November 17th, just in time for Thanksgiving. Sky is the biggest of my newborns so far, he tipped the scales at 8lbs 14 ounces! He was a great sleeper until the end and then he let us know he'd had enough. I hope you guys enjoy your sneak peek! Wow! This family was perfect for the location we used yesterday. The sweet C family and I met up last Friday night and we raced around trying to get some family pictures done before the sun went down. Meet the E family (again). They are good friends of ours and I love every chance I get to take pictures of adorable Claire. The H family is down south for a few months while Dad upgrades to be an aircraft commander for the B52, he was in the same FTU class as my husband and they are upgrading together, so it's been a nice reunion while they are here, since they moved up North after he graduated. I met up with this fun family the other night for a HOT urban session. It was 100+ but they were all such good sports. They have tons of energy and were full of laughs despite the heat! I'm still alive! I promise!

I've been so sick lately (thank you baby #3!) but I managed to survive two fun sessions today, and am hoping to get caught up with editing/sneak previews/orders ASAP! Two sneak peeks coming up...Sweet tiny baby Carrigan and the J family that braved the 100+ temps for a fun urban session!

A couple quick announcements :
Holiday Mini-Sessions are going to be in October when hopefully it will not be so hot! (But you never know in Louisiana!) I'll have two or three locations to pick from and the basic details are :
$100 is a 30 minute session (up to 5 people). You get 3 digital files that are for printing your own holiday cards and/or prints up to an 8x10.
$150 is 30 minute session (up to 5 people). 1 digital file (for printing up to an 8x10) and 30 5x7 flat custom designed holiday cards (with envelopes). Additional digital files and prints/products are available at al a carte prices.
I'm only doing a limited number of these sessions, so if you're interested book soon, I'm not accepting ANY family sessions after November 1st, so that I can guarantee your cards/products will be in for Christmas! I will have a few openings for maternity/newborn/milestones but there's no guarantee the pictures will be done in time for Christmas! :)

Beginning September 1st- creative session fees will be $100 for an hour session. This includes a $25 print credit towards digital files or prints. Print prices are still the same,as listed in the investment portion of the blog/website.

Baby Sara Kate was born at the end of May, but I didn't get a chance to meet her until she was already almost a month old. So she was a little outside the optimal window for newborn pictures, they just don't sleep as well after 2 weeks of age, but we did what we could and I (not so) secretly like the lifestyle ones best anyways :)

On the same trip home recently where I had the pleasure of photographing 3 newborns, I got to do a few almost one year portraits for Raegan. She is the daughter of my best friend, and her dad, Drew, is so talented. He designed and built my official website.

Miss Raegan turns one in August, so we went ahead and did a few pictures for her invitation and a few in a dress that her mom wore when she was younger. Laura's grandmother made the dress and then Laura found the perfect vintage little hair bow for Rae to wear with it...

I can't wait to be home again in late August to do their family portraits!!

Claire is one of Ellie's bff''s. They are only 6 weeks apart and it's been a lot of fun watching them grow up together...Since Claire just turned one, we marked the occasion with a few one year portraits.

On a recent trip home to Sweet Home Alabama, I was lucky enough to arrive shortly after tiny little Fisher arrived. He's the nephew of one of my good friends from high school and he tipped the scales at just over 5 lbs! My smallest full term newborn!

He gave me and his mama a work out, he refused! to fall asleep, didn't cry, just laid there very sweetly until almost the very end. And then he gave up...

While home for a visit, I was able to do a quick maternity session for a friend from a previous Air Force assignment. Kristi and Matt are patiently awaiting the arrival of their little girl, Sara. Sweet little Levi was another newborn who arrived a bit early, he spent almost 2 months in the NICU but is finally home with his family where he belongs!

He was honestly not really in the mood for a photoshoot. Believe it or not, he really just wanted to cry but I love that his mom had the best attitude about it- she said, "hey, newborns cry!"

Little C was not having a very good weekend (evil stomach bug!) but once she was feeling a little better, only that day as it turned out :( .... we got together for her 9 month portraits and some family pictures also. She is only 6 weeks younger than my daughter and they are too cute together, C is catching up quickly and may even beat Ellie in the race to "who walks first".

I met up with the H family at a local garden that was absolutely.beautiful this past weekend. Their sweet 3 year old was such a little princess and so fun to work with. She kept noticing brides getting their pictures taken in the gardens and said, " Oh look, there's Cinderella or There's Tinkerbell!" Precious!

We had a lot of fun, even with Mr. H and his poor hurt leg. He was a good sport and hobbled around as best he could for a few family pictures :) Thanks so much for allowing me the chance to photograph your beautiful family Tina!!

Busyness!

I posted this on our family blog, but thought it fitting to share here too :

It has been non stop busy in our house since my husband came home from his deployment. We are always on the go, and it feels like there is never a moment to just stop and breathe.

I am so thankful to be busy. Especially with my photography. I'm well on my way to being officially in business by my daughter's birthday, just like I promised myself with my new year's resolutions. At the same time, I am trying to remember why I got into photography...capturing memories, and most important to me, is our memories! I long to just sit down and edit our photos and blog about our little moments, and I'm finding that hard to do! Again, not complaining at all about being busy, I am just struggling with balance! Balancing being a mom to my two munchkins and a wife (after not having to focus on being a wife for almost 6 months!), it is hard to remember there's another person to care for! And balancing work, with family time...I love the opportunity I'm being given, but I have to remember to slow down and remember what made photography so enjoyable sometimes :)

Anyways, all that rambling to say, today I took time to take my kids to a spot where I've been doing several family sessions recently. It's a beautiful art gallery with even more beautiful gardens. Acres of azaleas and beautiful waterfalls, bridges, trees...it's really amazing. We had a picnic (Burger King ;) ), and I just let them play and of course, took a "few" pictures of them. I'm hoping my clients will forgive me for taking a day off from editing their portraits to indulge myself in editing a few of my own children ;)

Sweet little R is turning one at the end of this month, I can't wait for his Mickey Mouse birthday party! His mom was sweet enough to want me there not only as a friend with my kids but also there to capture his first birthday for her in pictures!

We did a few one year portraits and then moved inside for his cake smash...he was definitely a bigger fan of the cake smash than the other pictures :) He needed a bath when he was done smashing his cake!!

I had the honor today of photographing sweet little A for the second time. I met her mom through a mom's group I'm in and first took A's pictures when she was only a couple of months old. She is growing up to be the most adorable, make that beautiful! little girl!

Amy, I had so much fun with you and your sweet little girl! I can't wait to take some of her big brothers!...that's going to be a blast!

Spring Pictures

I got out the "studio" equipment for hopefully one of the last times (hooray for Spring and outdoor sessions!). I don't really like studio set up but sometimes it's a necessary evil (newborns! and the under one crowd, especially in cold or yucky weather are easy to photograph on the backgrounds!).

I wanted to take a few spring pictures of the kids and though they were in not so great moods I'm glad I got a few smiles out of them :)

I'm open for bookings starting 22 March. So if you're interested in spring/Easter portraits ("studio" set up or outdoors (my preference!) feel free to contact me!

Little M turned one way back in December but I never properly blogged his cake smash!

He was not really into it, not anything like his first birthday party which I also had the honor of photographing. :)

on vacation

I'm currently on hiatus until the 22nd of March. Since my husband just returned home from a long d*ployment, we're enjoying much needed family time until he has to head back to work.

I'm excited about the warmer weather and beautiful flowers that are starting to show up. Winter is definitely not fun for a photographer, I hate being stuck inside!!

Sweet little E is the daughter of a friend from my MOPS group. I was thrilled when she asked me to take these, E is just too cute and was so easy to work with. I can't wait till she's older and sitting up, she has the most beautiful nursery ever that I'm really looking forward to photographing in a few months (with adorable E in it of course!)

Little Miss "R" came to visit me with her mom and Granna a few weeks ago. She is the daughter of my best friend and one of my favorite little people to photograph. She was full of smiles and coos and the best part, she can't get away from me yet!!
